First Night Scranton 2007

In what has become a local tradition, downtown Scranton will once again ring in the new year with its First Night celebration on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, Dec. 31, from 5 p.m. to midnight.

First Night Scranton 2007 will be feature more than 40 artists, performers, and special events in unique venues throughout downtown Scranton. You can listen to some smooth jazz, rock in the New Year, learn African drumming and community dances from around the world, watch an opera, see beautiful artwork and much more. This year, there are two special venues dedicated to teens and seniors. Seniors can play bingo to the sounds of their favorite big band music, while teens can listen to and vote on the best of the best in local bands in a Battle of the Bands.

The First Night Scranton 2007 admission button costs $10 and gives you unlimited admission to the 20+ venues of performances, artists and special events. Children under 5 are admitted free. Buttons will also be available for sale on the night of the event at the Mall at Steamtown, and at event headquarters, located at the William J. Nealon Federal Building, 235 North Washington Ave.

First Night Scranton 2007 will go on rain, shine, or snow. Most performance sites are indoor venues, so the event will not be cancelled due to weather. Please remember to dress for the weather as you move from venue to venue. Wear walking shoes. Free Trolley shuttles will also be available.
