Chef Jeff Diaz brings fine dining to you

Through his I Don’t Want to Cook business, Chef Jeff Diaz has made the luxury of personal chef services available to everyone.

Diaz began I Don’t Want to Cook nearly a year ago and said the response from the Scranton community has been nothing but positive. “The first year wasn’t bad,” Diaz said.

Diaz has more than 15 years of culinary experience. He studied at the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts but held down a job at a restaurant at the same time. He soon decided he was learning more at his job than at school and chose to pursue his profession full time.

On a journey that included stops in California, Texas, Rhode Island, Florida and Tennessee, Diaz honed his craft at restaurants across the country, working in everything from casual to fine dining. He has worked as a restaurant manager, executive chef and culinary director and is currently a member of the American Personal and Private Chef Institute & Association and the American Culinary Federation.

Following the death of his daughter, Mia, Diaz reexamined his career choices and developed I Don’t Want to Cook to allow him more time to spend with his family. So far, the personal chef business has been everything he hoped it would be. “I absolutely love it.”

Diaz offers customized menu planning to suit the individual tastes of his clients and performs the grocery shopping to ensure the ingredients are the freshest they can be. Clients arrive home after work to find a meal prepared by Diaz while they were away along with heating instructions. Diaz can also provide restaurant-like experiences at home including romantic dinners, and offers catering services as well.
