Over 97,000 people nationally are waiting for a life-saving organ or tissue transplant; and 13 people die each day waiting for this precious gift. April is National Donate Life Month and the NEPA Coalition on Donation will be holding its 2nd Annual DONORS ROCK Concert on Thursday, April 10, 2008 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Molly Brannigans located at 101 Adams Avenue in Scranton.

This fundraiser will feature live performances by Tom Rogo, Billy Rogan, Dashboard Mary, Nowhere Slow, Former Self, Music for Models, Jugdish, Symphonic Haze, Graces Downfall, Twist of Fate, and Bliss. The concert is being held in order to raise awareness of about the precious gift of organ donation. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help local transplant recipients attend the 2008 US Transplant Games held in Pittsburgh as part of TEAM PHILLY. Hear personal stories from local transplant recipients and donor families about their experiences with organ donation.

The Mayor of Scranton, Christopher Doherty, whose cousin is a four-time transplant recipient, will speak at the event. The Lackawanna County Commissioners will also be present at the event. Cost of the event is $10. You can pre purchase tickets at Northern Lights Espresso Bar and Molly Brannigans in downtown Scranton. You must be 21 years of age to attend.
