The NEPA Miners 4th Annual Charlie Wysocki Camp will be held at the Wyoming Valley Sports Complex, 131 Bear Creek Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This year, Wysocki will be joined by two-time Super Bowl champion and former New York Giant Lee Rouson.

Presented by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA),  there is a $10 camp fee with all proceeds going to charity supporting mental illness. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with football camp from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Camp participants are to be boys and girls ages 5-14 but all ages are welcome to join the camp and support this great cause.

Charlie has an amazing story growing up in the Coal Mining region of Wilkes-Barre and overcoming all odds to become an All-State Football player at Wilkes-Barre Myers before breaking records at the University of Maryland. It was not until his time in the Dallas Cowboys Camp under legendary coach Tom Landry where Charlie became ill and later diagnosed with Bi-Polar Disorder. The Miners are happy to have Charlie as an honorary member of their coaching staff and to help others who suffer from mental illness. Supporting our cause this year is the North East Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. FCA teaches values through athletes and coaches and will be donating a Sharing the Victory Magazine and FCA materials to each camper. This year’s FCA guest speaker will be former New York Giants Running Back Lee Rouson.

NEPA Miners coaches and players will start the camp with basic fundamentals for the boys, followed up with the kids running the same plays that the Miners will run in a game. Then the campers and the Miners will play a pick up football game. The girls will be learning cheers and performing a Miners Girls routine with the Miners Girls Entertainment Team and former Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader Melissa Vaughn.  All participants will then have a free lunch before listening to guest speakers from the Miners, FCA, WSTC and the great Charlie Wysocki. There will also be a Miners Autograph session and photos taken to raise money to conclude the camp. This is the most affordable youth football and cheer camp in Pennsylvania; you won’t want to miss it!

Payments can be made by cash or checks/money orders made payable to the NEPA Miners Attention: Charlie Wysocki Camp PO Box 20218 Scranton, PA 18502. Please RSVP with Jeff at the Wyoming Valley Sports Complex (570) 208-2280.
