Leadership Lackawanna plans art auction
Events — By nmilner on September 27, 2005 at 3:43 pmLeadership Lackawanna will hold a live auction of fine art, sports and music memorabilia and more on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Lackawanna College, 501 Vine St., Scranton.
The event, presented by Ross Galleries, LLC, N.Y., will begin with a preview at 6 p.m. followed by the auction at 7 p.m. An array of hors d’oeuvres, refreshments, wine and cheese, desserts and door prizes will be available and the public is invited to attend.
Don’t miss your chance to purchase rare works at extraordinary auction prices. Opening bids are up to 50% less than traditional framed gallery prices. Some of the featured artists include: Adams, Animation Art by Disney, Chagall, Dali, Kinkade, Max, Picasso, Rembrandt, Renoir, Rockwell, Warhol and Wyeth. All of the works are custom framed and matted. MasterCard, Visa, Discover & AmEx will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the Leadership Lackawanna Alumni Council.

I might be out of the loop, but who is this artist named “Max”?
It’s either Peter Max or Max Headroom.
Peter Max??? Man, what have we become. Thomas Kinkaid and Peter Max, the lack of creativity by either of them kills me to no end. They give Pop Art a bad name and that’s hard to do, since it’s already about the cultural zeitgeist and the writing’s that’s already on the wall regarding culture.
I like Kinkaid’s puzzles. It takes real talent to paint all of those little pieces and make them fit together into larger pictures of landscapes and windmills. I just wish the pieces were larger and the box came with a prize for completing the whole thing. Like a plastic ring or a little plastic football helmet would be cool. I like little plastic football helmets.
