Scranton Art Scene Grows with Artworks Gallery
The Arts — By nmilner on December 9, 2009 at 11:35 amDuring last Friday’s First Friday Scranton, many local art lovers received their introduction to a newly opened downtown artspace, the ArtWorks Gallery at 503 Lackawanna Ave.
Artworks is a community art center with an exhibition space, art studio and multi-purpose room. The gallery is “dedicated to helping individuals explore their creative potential and expand their horizons” and plans to offer art instruction, workshops and special programs.
Last Friday, Artworks opened the exhibition “Serge Hollerbach: A Witness to My Time,” featuring a selection of masterworks by the great Russian-American figure painter.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. So stop by and check out the latest addition to Scranton’s downtown art scene.
